The combination of Savannah’s moderate year-round climate with our stellar natural landscape means that we can often be found enjoying our time outside. Residents and tourists alike find it easy and accessible to hit Tybee Island for kayaking, sailing, even kitesurfing or they may stay in town for a game of frisbee in Forsyth Park. Plus, the Creative Coast is ripe with nature trails, bike trails and plenty o’ courts and courses – whether you prefer basketball, tennis, golf or drag racing. Then, when the day is done, we reward ourselves with some ice cold beverages (maybe a nice Coca-Cola or… something a li’l harder). You may have heard it said before – but we believe it – work hard and play hard!
Some folks are just meant to be spectators. For us, thankfully, there are lots of sporting events that take place around Savannah that require nothing more than observation! The Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, Savannah Sand Gnats minor league baseball and the ChampBoat Racing Series Grand Prix are just some of the ways we can see how the pros do it! Not "everybody has what it takes to be a F1 Powerboat Racer or a semi-pro baseball player – but the next best thing is getting to watch!
Savannah’s sun-filled days turn into cooler nights, and that’s when Savannahians begin enjoying the nightlife. Many cafes and restaurants offer outdoor dining and numerous pubs and bars invite you to quench a thirst or relax and people watch in their historic halls. Savannah’s bar scene ranges from quaint wine bars like Venus de Milo to hole-in-the-wall, old-school throwbacks like Pinkie Master’s or the American Legion Post on Bull Street, to authentic British and Irish pubs like Churchill’s or Murphy’s Law.
Sports? Did someone say sports? There are so many local sports scenes in Savannah we can’t begin to name ‘em all but we promise that there is something here for everyone. Ranging from clubs for the uber-athletic triathloners to groups catering to pseudo-athletic frisbee golf players – we’ve got it in Savannah! We even have our very own girl’s roller derby team, The Savannah Derby Devils. And, uhh – I would not want to get in their way!
