Are you kidding? We’ve got creativity seeping out of our ears down here. From a bajillion art galleries (52 in Savannah, alone), to the world’s largest digital media lab at one of the world’s largest and most respected design colleges, to one of the largest music festivals on the East Coast, to about 6,000 of your closest, wacky design student friends crawling the downtown area, Savannah is drunk on creative juice.
The City’s customary quirkiness and originality will satisfy even the most jaded big-city folks (yes, that means you, ATLiens ). We’re not just another pretty face; there’s some serious personality behind our good looks. And we’re a magnet for creative talent.
Artists, musicians and writers have long been a fan of our beautiful beaches and seductive coastline, serving as the muse for many aspiring (and accomplished) creative practitioners. Johnny Mercer, of “Moon River” fame, was a native and is buried at Bonaventure Cemetery surrounded by his lyrics engraved in stone. Writers Conrad Aiken and Flannery O’Connor both hailed from here and more writers and other fascinating artists discover the Savannah muse each year.
